Is Duck Tape your Friend?

First I took a small T-shirt, cut off the sleeves. Turn it inside out and started covering it with duck tape!
Then I cut the neck and arm holes deeper to resemble handles. Staple across bottom of bag and tape over staples. Also square out bottom of bag corners, also re-taping.

Turn right side out !!!

And you have a cute re-usable bag ;-)

I matched my tape with the shirt and ended up using a good 3/4 of the roll, so to cut cost, please use a coupon towards your favorite craft store ;-)

Finally starting some Sewing!

Well, it all started with Pinterest !!

I came across this picture of cute PJ bottoms. The pattern is from Sweden, so I had to download the English version!! Yet some of the instructions are still a bit odd.

I am going to forgo the pockets also and it calls for a zipper in the back-we will see if that happens !

The cotton fabric I choose (from a San Diego Trip) is Moda and you can see, Very Bright ;-))

The green swirly material is the accent for Cuff and Waistband.

Using some of the Paperweights that my Dear Mom gave me. She is also the one that taught me to use them when cutting out patterns to keep my fabric and thin paper patterns from running away from me!

I love my new little Pin Cushion made by a dear friend ;-)

Homemade Vanilla!!

Pinterest made me do it!!! Three vanilla beans (sliced down the center) $10 AND a 375ml of Vodka @ $8. Place in a cool dark pantry for @ three months, shaking bottle once a week ! Let's see what we have, will it be as good as the awesome Mexican Vanilla I finally ran out of from the last Cancun trip?!?

Crochet Wreath Time

I used bulky yarn an crochet around a styrofoam ring. I want to add some bells or pinecones to it, so it is not finished yet. Of course, I got this idea from "Pinterest". And if you haven't been to this website, well first let me warn you, it causes 'Addiction' !!!

The color work Wrist Warmers are moving slowly, just now starting the thumb. Well there are two reasons that these are not getting done :::::

Here is the first reason....

Once I finished Konrad's Scarf, I had to have one too! Mine is done in Baby Alpaca and has tiny gold flecks in it. This is so soft and heavenly to wear ;-)

Now reason #2: Someone wanted a white Beanie Hat!!

Check out the crown! It was very easy and fun to make this hat.

You will have to excuse all the funny business going on in the background ;-)

Now I must get back to my sewing to finish projects for the upcoming Bazaar, December 2nd and 3rd. Come check it out in Star!

These will growing up to be a pair of fingerless gloves or arm warmers. I gave you a picture with and without flash, you get to decide which colors you like best! Hehe

Notice the cute bobbles on the edge? Those were not fun to start with but did turn out great!

Here is my version of the Apron pattern. I found the 'kitchen' fabric at a second hand store in Nampa, ID !! This one is for ME, but I have enough fabric to make a few more for the Bazaar.

Oh I am ready to bake!

I took an old pair of Chelsea's jeans and created two purses.

Lined both of them and included a pocket. ;-)

Saturday night and it's just me and the animals...the Man of the house has been traveling for three long weeks. Monday night can not come soon enough.

Momma's Got a New BAG....

Oh how I wanted to have this posting to have been exactly one year later than the previous....but time got away from me, so here I am.

So I have started something that I told myself I would not delve into....QUILTING !

I guess the Bug got me, for I am 'itchin' hahaha!

During the Summer I managed to make 2 Rag Quilts, The first one for my Bedroom Chaise Lounge (napping area) and the second for my sweet Car! (It's mainly for Picnics and such) What fun they were to make, the first one was started in a class that Chelsea and I took at Jo-Ann's. It was made with 10" Flannel squares and backed with Denim. For the Binding I used Satin. On the second quilt I used 6" Cotton squares and backed it with Denim, this time binding with Ultrasuede. Oh yes, and the Car Quilt is bigger and really heavy, especially when its wet!

My car is called 'The White Tiger' so I used Black and White with Hot Green!

Here is the first baby. The colors are cream, brown and green.

So what is my next project you ask?? well I go to the quilt stores and am SO overwhelmed....First thing, I do believe I need a NEW Sewing Machine ;-)

I know I need to take some classes, just gotta find the right one. But for now I am making little wallets and purses, I have an Apron cut out and ready to be sewn up. Bought fabric for a flannel bath robe for myself and flannel PJ's for the husband!

Must go Create now !!

Corfu, Greece

After experiencing the beautiful Santorini, I was really looking forward to another breathtaking day of Greece. Here we are floating by the Island.

We had to wait our turn to be taken ashore, so I had time to get caught up on PostCards to loved ones. As you can tell I am deep in thought....I try to go out of the way and not write the awful "Wish you were Here" .

I had a wonderful experience on the Ship last night, I got my hair cut at the Salon!!! I know, that was very brave! But I must say IT was an awesome Hair Cut. And I am very picky when it comes to my Cut!! It figures...that I will NEVER see her again :-( The Salon was so relaxing, check out all the windows. As she was cutting my hair, she said "Oh, Look at that Island!" How many times are you getting your hair done and there is a quaint little Island going by in the window!! See the black pedestal in the middle? That was the 'rotating Sink' !!! I didn't have to even get out of my chair. I just leaned my head back and she pulls the sink over and adjusts it right behind my chair. Then she blew dry my hair with a round brush to perfection....now how many times do you leave the hairdressers 'Loving' how they styled your hair??? I am telling you I wanted to take her home !

This is the Adult Pool on our Ship, called the Solarium...It is air-conditioned in here?!? It was also saltwater. Not a fan of that, myself.

So after our water taxi to the Island, we take a taxi to the center of town.

It is another HOT day and we walk around the shopping area a little only to find the stores are either $$$ Jewelry or cheap Souvenirs.

I could NOT believe what was on the main street!!!

McDonalds ! And so since my daughter works for Mickey D's I had to do a little pose for her :)) This is probably the most affordable food you will find here, by the way! And so to use their restroom you have to have bought a food item and the receipt has a code on it and 'that' gets you into the potty area!!!! funny huh??

Here is a cute little Market.

Randy really wanted to see a Museum and so we tried and tried to find a particular Archaeological one that was on our map. We spent the better part of an hour traipsing around, covering certain areas 2 or 3 times (without asking for locals help) so this picture shows Randy studying the map, yet a 40th time......

Well in the End of our hunt, we did find it (after asking a local)(my idea)(BUT about 45 minutes ago) and the damn thing was Closed.

So Corfu was pretty UNeventful for us and we went back to the Ship early and crashed at the Pool with BOOZE.

GREECE...............

This was my Favorite Place.....Santorini, Greece.

We opted to adventure out on our own here, which worked out wonderfully. We were very relaxed and whether we were discovering an out of the way Souvenir Shop, the very hard to find Gas Station or a simple little beach...it was OUR discovery :))

See the famous curvy road up the mountain, you have 3 choices of getting to the top, Walking (slow), riding a donkey (slow and smelly), or a high tech Gondola (fast and scary). We chose the 21st century option!!!

This photo was taken from our Cruise Ship balcony, I am very happy to be here! I have always been taken with the beauty of this place and NOW I am here :))

We are in the Gondola looking down on the poor souls that took the donkeys up. Let me remind you that it is very hot again today and it is only around 10am......

The poor donkeys should at least be able to take the Gondola's 'down'.....just to save a little energy, jeez .

Now walking around the beautiful city we came across this Cafe that apparently has a pool !!! I guess for when those appetizers seem to take forever, why not just go for a dip!!!

Well what do you know!! I found Sunflowers in Greece!! So I had to have a picture of that. Randy and I had soooo much fun here taking pictures and are hoping that some of them will be our ART in our new house.

We stumbled across this abandoned boat and fought over the camera!!

Proof that Randy is indeed in Greece....and quite happy about it !!

The water was just gorgeous and clean and clear and felt sooooo good on this hot non breezy day.

I like pictures of feet in water, so here is randy and I.

I finally had found this type of dress that everyone was wearing. It is made of 3 large scarves sewn together! Do I look like a local now??? Ha

This photo was taken way up high on a roof top restaurant that we stopped in to cool off. The view was amazing....and we were closer to the Sun.....hahahahah.

Awww, the happy couple on a dream vacation !!!

I could not drink enough ice cold water... i had a small bucket of ice sitting in front of me and immensely enjoyed each and everyone of those precious little cubes.....whether in my class or down my shirt!!!!

Randy on the other hand enjoyed the local beer to stay cooled off and to put up with my belly-aching!!

Simply breathtaking views, huh?!!

Can you imagine waking up in the morning and walking out on your balcony......just to stare at the ocean and contemplate your day. It would be so awesome to buy a flat here and decorate it with all local items. I could do it......"It could happen" :))

You would just take a couple of stairs and 'bam' you are at a market and you chose some fresh fish for the day and a bottle of vino. Back to your happy abode. mmmmmmmnmmnnn

Oh here I am again in my fun dress posing for you again in GREECE !!

On to Turkey !!

On our excursion we visited two little villages.
The locals set up stands along side of walkways to sell their handmade wares. Mostly knitted and crochet items, lots of embroidered linens.

Now we come upon a local market that has everything!! This picture shows kitchen ware, toiletries and soaps.

Check out this guys array of fabric!!! I bought a pair of local made pants. They are made with lots of material in the legs and bottom area and are gathered at the waist with elastic. Made so you can squat in them and be very comfy!!

Oh my.... all the local grown grains and rice and spices....YUMMMM!

One of my favorite parts about Turkey is they only eat homegrown food and it is growing EVERYwhere!! Lemon trees were growing along alleyways and anyone could pick them. They were so beautiful and the size of our oranges!! so the picture below is a family at their stand for the day, we stopped and tasted their cucumbers, my my how fresh!

In this photo the elder women are sitting in the little bit of shade there was at their stand. Notice the scarves on their heads are crochet on the edges and some have beads, very feminine. You can sort of see how the pants wear here, that's what i bought!!!

We then were treated to a family owned outdoor cafe for lunch.

Here is my plate, everything is cooked in locally made Olive Oil. The upper right is seasoned rice rolled up in grape leaves, then of course local veggies; eggplant, squash and ripe tomatoes. Bread replacement is this very thin pan cooked on an open fire-rolled out flour and water batter. They cook two together with herbs in the middle. It is very crispy.

Then we stopped at a Rug Emporium!! We learned how they get the silk from the pods! awesome!! They dye the yarns with only natural vegetable dyes. Here sits a woman making a rug that will take months to finish. This was soooo fascinating, I could have spent the whole day there!!! :))

Then they whisked us down the hall and into one of the many rooms of unbelievable hand created rugs.

Yes, Turkey would be a wonderful place to come back and visit for longer period of time.

We boarded our ship and had such fun walking around checking out everything. My favorite was our Cabin, with our own balcony!!

After checking out the whole ship, we ''of course'' had to have some food!! In this picture, the entrance of the buffet, a beautiful display of fruit. Even the flowers are made of food!!

We are the leader of three ships leaving the dock, so this shows the followers, leaving Venice.

Our first stop was Dubrovnik, Croatia. Check out the steep steps!! These were little shops and cafes, even homes.

This is one of the beautiful views of the city from up high.

The water here is sooooo clear!! We wished we had opted for the snorkeling excursion. :(

I always have to take pictures looking up the trunk of a wonderful palm trees, they fascinate me!

We had to take a picture of our Croatian money = Kuna

Isn't it cool!

And this is where we spent most of our Kuna, a cute little outdoor restaurant. It was located down one of the tiny streets, they also had indoor seating but it wasn't air conditioned and there was a 'slight' breeze outside. Randy had delicious Sea Bass and I opted for Blackened Risotto (with bits of tender squid and colored with the squid ink!!)

VENICE

I've always dreamed of Venice, just the idea that the city is 'floating', pulls me in and Wow's me! Our weather was perfect. Hotel building used to be a Flour Mill back in the day. Our room was small, but had a view, the Breakfast Buffet was a dream!! And the coffee.... so robust, yum! After taking a breathtaking Gondola ride, we wondered around shops and markets drinking Bella, a Peach Sparkling Wine. During our outing, Mother Nature called and we had to pay $2 each to get into a WC (water closet)!!! The European toilet system is of course, different. There are 2 buttons to flush, small for #1 and bigger button for #2. You also have to close the lid because the force at which the limited water is flushed is massive. So needless to say I was always touching toilets over there......ummm, heebyjeebies!!!! So after paying such a fee for the Loo....one would expect it to be well kept......NOT a one, always stank and you would be lucky if you had both soap and towel or a clean floor. Not pleasant at allllll.
We stayed in Venice for 3 nights and got to enjoy the wonderful pool. Restaurant eating is very expensive here. Gas is over $7 a gallon. We had fun walking around and imagining how it would be to live here. I had my head aimed 'up' most of the time, enjoying what was on every ones balconies, dogs would stick their heads thru the slats barking at passersby, cats were everywhere, but never looked very well fed. Randy kept saying that we couldn't get lost....cause it was an Island!

First stop is Venice, Italy
What Beauty... I couldn't stop taking pictures.
I was fascinated how people live over here, way up on the second, third, fourth and fifth floors of these 'floating' buildings.

No motorized vehicles in the area we were in, just boats or water taxi's.

This was in front of someones home or flat, you have no yard and I thought this is what my front door would look like if I lived here.

This is Saint Marco Square, and there was some shopping to do here !

I love this photo, we ate at a cute little restaurant that sat right on the water. We enjoyed the sunset as much as our food.

The Pieces are finally coming together for this 'Graduating Senior' All 35 squares are done and getting crochet to become one! Haven't even started the second one yet.....well I did start one but it kept looking like a baby blanket instead of an Eighteen year olds!!! So it went in the closet of 'decide what to do with this at a nother time'!! But I do have new yarn and will be crocheting (with a large hook) the second blanket so that will go much faster. i hope i hope i hope :))

So what do you think of the blanket so far??? Can you see the traveling tan bars?

So has it disturbed you that I haven't been posting very often??? well that is thanks to FACEBOOK !!!

Love to check and see what is happening and put my 2 cents in when in the mood :)

I have been trying to stay away from starting anything new, due to knitting gifts that I was wanting to finish by a certain date.......well we all know how THAT goes....I hate when I over commit.

So I cut back, cut short and pulled the PLUG!

The recipients won't miss what they never knew they were maybe gonna get!

Do you know how bogged down I was feeling??

Whew...the weight has been lifted off...

released...........now it's floating away........

Well, It's ME !!!!!!!!

I want some Palm Trees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I see Palm Trees, I feel comforted, warm, soothed by the sun and I know that a snazzy hotel is close by! And surely there is a body of water somewhere for me to stick my toes in. Maybe a cute little gecko is hiding just waiting for me. Beautiful birds are singing and fluttering about.

This interim between Winter and Spring is pure torture for me. One day the sun is beaming and I can sit outside and absorb the glorious rays, then the next day is cloudy and cold with a bruising wind gusting from the North. This is just rotten 'tude from Mother Nature! And I will not have it !!!

New Friends and Old .......

Meet Sammi, my pet squirrel!! She is the only squirrel out where I live.(too far out in the country, I guess) I can call for her and most times she will come a running!! I feed her peanuts in the shell, she will come right up to me and I can make her follow me around too. I stoop down and she will put her little paws on my leg and I hand her the nut, she will take it and turn it around and around sniffing it, to decide if it is good enough to keep, then off she flies to find the perfect spot to bury it, then fluffs dead leaves around it to make it look like nothing happened there, then comes back to see if I have any more!

I am truly amazed with her willingness to come sooo close to me, I have never seen a squirrel so tame. I am going to try and get a better picture of her, but if you zoom on this one you can see the peanut being inspected!

And this is my Old friend, Zero or Princess. She has moved and doesn't live next door anymore.... :( But I was blessed with a visit not to long ago!! And she came in and it was like she never left, she rules the roust around here! After proving that she was in charge in this picture, she came down to my lap and snuggled. I will sooo much miss her Summer visits. :(

Did ya think I fell into a hole and was never gonna come out????
This workin full time has taken a toll on my life!
I have worked many 11 hour days only to come
home, jacuzzi and go to bed. I even got sick during our
Grand Opening, but managed to truck thru without really missing
much work.
Hence.......not much knitting going on here...not much of anything.
My house is a pig pen, my body is screaming at me, my animals miss me and I AM TIRED :(

Here is what I have been doing for the whole week!!!!
I landed a part time job with Hobby Lobby!!!
It's a brand new store and I am getting to be part of the

whole creation of what it takes to build the store from the bottom UP !
From the moment I saw the big sign "Hobby Lobby coming soon" , I was hyped, I grew up in Ks and we had HL's there, but Idaho, too far west, TILL now !!!! So I was there on the first day of open application time, got called back the next day for an interview and was offered the job on the spot! Been working my arse off everyday since. I love everything new, and this place is full of NEWness!
I have the day off today and think I am due for 'starting a new project' today. So off I am to make that glorious decision... ahhhhh life is good and full. :)

I pulled two different colorways of sock yarn to get this awesome variegated look. It's a delightful garment, and best of all, it FITS!!! It's a top down, my favorite, very easy. But it's very hard to take a good picture of yourself, so you will have to wait for that picture :( sorry peeps

Delicious Dinner

First let's stop and smell the flowers.... preferably the beautiful Rubruin Lilies that my hubby brought home, mmmnmmnmm, lovely !

Now you will have to use your imagination with the next couple of pictures.....because I am not smarter than my camera, these indoor, food pictures where taken in 'snow' setting!! ha ha ha

Believe me, this food SURE tasted a lot better than it looks here!!!!

That is red cabbage at the upper left. And the meat is Brisket or better known from my childhood "Stringy Meat"!!

This meat just fell apart and the potatoes were buttery tasting and the fresh hot rolls melted in your mouth.....

So how did your imagination work??? or are the photos tooooo awful?

Maybe when I make a sandwich with it tomorrow I will use the right camera setting and all will be well. :)

I ground it even more for Espresso maker, 2 shots to 1/2 cup frothed chocolate milk with a tsp of raw sugar and a good squirt of dark chocolate syrup !!! Oh yeah, I know how to live. :)

Prancer and I ventured out this morning for a photo shoot. It was so quiet, our evergreen trees where full of little birds and the only sound was them chirping away, talking about how yummy the neighbors fresh bird seed was! and then, all of a sudden a hush came over the land.............

Can you see the culprit...hiding behind the tree? Mr. Hearts was lookin for a little feathered friend! He was having so much fun running around in the snow. :)

One of my knitting friends hosted her annual Holiday Party over the weekend and it was a wonderful amount of Ho-Ho Fun!!! You can probably tell by the gleam in our eyes, or the rosy in our cheeks, or the cheery smiles that indeed we are having a good ole time !!!

Beautiful Biscotti, this time it was Pecan with chocolate on top. My fav is Chocolate Almond with orange zest. If you have never tried to make biscotti on your own, you Must! It is sooo easy, once you make the dough, just like making cookie dough, you form it into a log shape and bake it and the slice it kattywampus and re-bake for 10 more minutes. Great little gifts for the Ho-Ho days!! We love them dipped in our Lattes and Hot Tea.

Look !!!!! We got Prancer to pose with Chelsea and I.... and she is even looking at the camera!!!! Happy Ho-Ho to you all!!

Let's see... I had a birthday, yep I turned 29 again and again!!
and I must say, I had a lovely birthday. My hubby and family made it feel real good.
Then Thanksgiving came around and we celebrated with a nice quiet meal, played some Scrabble, then ran out and caught a movie.

Oh me oh my.....this is not my favorite time of the year....
I know that all this leads to the upcoming holidays and they overwhelm me. And on top of that I have to have a another birthday! Por Que ????
Somethings are just Rude.

So the last of my children turned 18 and now my family consisted of all adults. I thought this day would never come. I can't wait to be a real empty nester and downsize. But will the housing market let us do that as soon as we want??

Wouldn't it be wonderful to move to a year round Warm Climate?! Maui comes to mind. IF it was affordable....
Would I get tired of warm days ALL the time??
Would I tire of seeing green grass and colorful flowers ALL the time?? Would I really grow tired of spending my days outside in the sunshine???
Just think, you would be wearing next to nothing everyday... so you wouldn't cover up your body in the cold months and let it go to pot!!!!
Hell, that's worth it right there!!!!
That's it, I'm saving my pennies from here out :)

Yes, I ate 3/4 of this whole thing by myself..... it was THAT good.

I finished this sweater earlier in the year (before blog) and I get compliments EVERY time I wear it. It was such an easy, fun garment to knit, that I swore I would make another.......but other prospects come around and poof ! It fall out of the loop. And here is the long awaited sweater !!!!! O M G !!!!
This is the sunset coming thru my craft room window, check out the awesome glow !!!

So naturally I had to run outside and catch a few photos for you. This one is on the front porch.

This is just seconds later, as long as it took me to walk to the front yard and the sun has dropped out of site. Can you believe all these colors?? Phenomenal.

Ran thru the house to the back yard..... no more purple, turning to black now.

And I couldn't let the day go by without showing off the new crazy sock!!

Isn't it the cutest thing?! The pattern says this part is like doing a hat with ear flaps!

Here is how it fits the heel.

Next step is picking up stitches to do the foot, then pick up stitches on other side and work the leg. This way is great because you can finish out the skein of yarn making the cuff as long as the yarn will let you, no more second guessing and no more left over sock yarn !! win win

For those of you that know me well....YES, those are my real nails!! For some reason they are growing and I am not chewing them. Savor the moment :)

Autumn has fallen.....

The closing of the Pool..........may we bow our heads in prayer........that Spring will find its way back SOON !!
I do not like this day, and every year I push the closing date closer and closer to October. On the knitting front, I have finished and blocked a sweater that was left for about a year and a half!!! I know, awful huh? Part of the reason was because I had tried it on and the arms and armholes were on the tight side,,, surely the yarn did not shrink as it sat waiting, surely my arms have not gained in circumference....

Well, I decided to suck it up and I washed it and blocked the $#@)(#$*&)@*)&)@(!#*)($ out of it (it's cotton, will it continue to grow?) The color is a pretty turquoise, it's this dang Fall lighting (or lack there of) that made these pictures look grey... ANYway, i tried it on and WOW!! it fits!

I haven't got up the nerve to start the sleeves of my striped sweater yet.....I should do both sleeves at once and I can't wrap my head around that yet.....so I started a new sock pattern instead....I know 'that doesn't make sense', cause the sock took more brain power, anyway the sock is going ok, on this pattern you start at the heel!! check it out over at knitty.com

I made a necklace, its full of everything, Sterling Silver findings, wire, charms and tons of stones that only my brother can name ! :)

I am very happy with it

It felt very good to sit and create such a wild piece....I think a matching bracelet might be next!

I'd be DEAD today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My allergies are %?@Q$%">#Q#%%$#?#@>%?@Q$% killing me today. I'll admit I was sitting outside earlier, enjoying the awesome weather, (sneezing) and finishing the right front of my striped sweater. The first allergy pill I took, just kinda gave me a little energy to accomplish a few things around the house, but the sneezing and watery eyes were still going strong.

So now I've closed myself in the house, shut all the windows, killed all the flies, turned the air conditioning back on and Popped a different allergy pill !!!

Purl is not bothered by a bloomin thing!!

So I thought I would show you what I see as I am trapped in my house, hoping for relief from the snot gods !!! (sorry, had to say that :)

This one is cool, out in the field on a mound of dirt and weeds, sits Mr. Hearts, looking down on the next poor mouse that will become his play thing !

My cats have the good life, don't they? Sleeping and hunting for sport, earlier a mouse was trapped on the pool cover, trying to jump up six inches to get free.....that was quite entertaining! After jumping up, he would fall into the water, but was able to get right back on the cover. I tried several times to catch him by the tail, but he would get away. So after several dunkings he was starting to slow down and I was able to then scoop him up and put him back on the concrete, where he proceeded to ruuuun like the wind into a nearby bush, only to be spotted by Purl and a new game ensued.

I leave you with one last look of the side yarn....er I mean yard (maybe the new drug is starting to work!)

I thought today I would present you with some of my latest purchases!!!
Remember the fav LYS that is going out of business?
Well I shopped there....2 days in a row...
it was sad shopping too,
I benefited only by saving some bucks, but...
I think I would rather have the cozy shop back......:(

Here is the first purchase, A lovely vibrant green, half wool, half silk! smells so delicious!! Yes I smell yarn and silk is my all time absolute favorite smell, EVER !!! I can smell it a mile away !!! LOVE, LOVe, LOve, Love, love it.
ummm, any way, ummm where was I.....?
Oh, hopefully this yarn will grow up to become this flirty little number, kinda flared to hide all the sweets I like to eat :)

This yarn is the softest ever, Baby Alpaca!!! Bless the little darlings for their first hair cut, so that I can knit up a casual cardigan!

On to the next project.....jeez I need to clone myself already....another soft wool, that is very squishy (yes, that is a very important character to have). And another green hue, love the green. It's a cabled scarf with attached hood....yum!

oh, say it isn't so......
my camera has made a liar out of me!! My husband showed me that it DOES indeed have a way to shoot close-ups of my jewelry.......so.........
Ta da.....Here is a nice picture of 3 bracelets that I made!!! The two bottom ones are thread together with 6ft of tiny string with a flexible needle at each end. A bunch of us took a class from our New Bead Store, right here in little Star!!!! And then we got together again on our own and did another bracelet, just to see if we remembered how. I believe we all passed with flying colors. The top bracelet is a totally different technique, wire wrap. I use lots of head pins and attach them to the chain of the bracelet. My dream is to only use sterling silver and gold fixin's !!!! But money doesn't grow on trees..... just ornamental pears!!!!!!!!

Two cute little mule deers, they were eating the flowers out of the flower pots at the condos I stayed at this weekend in McCall. I also saw a frisky little ground squirrel and a precious fox, but wasn't quick enough with a camera for them. I love wildlife :)

An Artist in Hollywood, California designed this awesome vase. Hubby and I found it at Art in the Park, an annual festivity that Boise, Idaho hosts that over 250 vendors come and sell their handmade designs.

I tried to take a picture of the new jewelry I have been creating........but.......my stupid camera is not fancy enough to get a close-up view without making it all blurry. Not happy about that.

I'm making some progress on this number, finally finished the left front, can you see it pinned on top of the back??

Isn't it pretty how the colors match up so lovely.?.? Well it didn't start out that way..... half way thru the left front I had put a wrong color in and didn't realize it till way past.....so I had to rippp out three color blocks and redo it.... that was fun..... then my count got off and I had to put the project in TimeOut!!

SO, needless to say, I am very pleased to see that front piece done.....

On to the right front now.

I would never have chosen to knit this type of garment for myself, but the LYS had one hanging up and I was told to try it on (by my knitting friends).

The most SAD news came
during this Labor Day Weekend...
one of my fav yarn stores is closing its doors.....
This damn rotten economy is to blame for ruining a beautiful fiber heaven !!!

pondering some future projects, because the fav yarn shop is going out with a bang
and having a huge $ale....
Its hard to be happy about saving money at a time like this...

I have finished the back of the new sweater (that you don't know what will look like when its finished)(cause I haven't posted the picture yet....)(sorry)
But aren't you taken with the fun colors?

And are you noticing the foam puzzle pieces underneath the sweater?? I bought those from KnitPicks. Very nice to have, now I can block things on my table instead of sticking pins into my carpet!

Getting back into the groove again

Couldn't you just eat these colors, they look soooo delicious!? This sweater has about 8 different colors. I am on a size 5 needle, but it seems to go pretty fast. The yarn is Ella Rae Silkience, a blend of cotton and silk.....or better known as "Butter" !!! I'll show you what it will grow up to be in my next post, just to keep you interested. ;)
This number is a crazy concoction of triangles and squares...totally meant to confuse!! Is it a sweater or row after row of mistakes.....I guess we will find out in the end.

This picture shows the sweater folded into the proper shape with the yoke yet to be done and still missing its sleeves....do you get it yet???

I had a surprize sunflower pop up by my bench, my son tries to tell me that they are just weeds, but that is an insult to me cause I am from Kansas the Sunflower State !!!

The Husband and I flying the friendly skies.
Boy how I love to be cramped in those comfy seats on a air plane.... My trip back home was a success !! Visiting everyone, enjoying their loving company and living their lives.

This is my Dad and Bella (check out her cute little pom-pom wristlets!)

My next stop was my Brother and his family, that's him hiding behind me. Beside me is my nephew. The handsome blonde is my son, Konrad, it was his year to go back visiting with me. We made wonderful memories.

Then the time spent with my sister was mostly at Marion Reservoir in Kansas. What an awesome camp ground. The highlight there was jet skiing!!! These awesome water crafts went 70 mph !!!!!

Which I did not go, my top speed was 65mph, but a comfortable 40mph was more my liking. What a wonderful feeling, driving one of these, you are so in charge, slicing the waves and gliding across the water. We also had a kayak that was real relaxing, you can sneak up on wildlife and see more activity.

Back home with my animals, all were happy to have their mommy home.

I finished with the craft closet....it was a sad closure...I gave away lots of fabric. They were all destined for greatness, each and everyone of them...I do hope they find nice homes and get to live a full life. ;(

But as you can tell from the photo, everything is in order now. And room for at least 2 more totes....when will the hording stop????

My toes are ready for my upcoming trip back home. The hair gets done on Monday. Packing starts on Sunday for my 12 day venture across the plains of Kansas and Oklahoma !! Looking forward to seeing all my family. :}

Look what I got to do !!!!!

I sat out on my front porch till 10:30pm just knitting away. It was a breezy little evening and the temperature was just perfect. My Hubby was actually sitting out there with me until a mosquito landed on him and sent him running for cover. So I got out my citronella candle and had me a little bonfire! Another reason it was so peaceful, there were NO kids in the house.

I am still working on my craft closet, I want to put all the wools on one shelf and cottons in their own bins and single skeins in another bin, I already have 3 bins full of WIP (work in progress)(for you non-knitters), there is just something about starting a NEW project that pleases the soul. I have ripped out 3 projects this time around. It feels good to do that, cause if it ain't doing anything for me, why have it there waiting!! Out of sight, out of mind.....that does not work for me.....cause I will fret about it.

Ahhh, I shall make some crafters very happy that day, indeed.

We are talking Fabric, Sewing Patterns, Yarn, Rubber Stamps, Flower Presses, Weaving kits, and some more Fabric!!!!!

Even with this downsizing of goods, I will still be needing to purchase 5 more Rubbermaid storage bins to house YARN that has been multiplying on my craft room floor !!! I guess you have to keep those ornery things separated.... ;)

There will come a time when I will not be able to get out of my house for weeks, months or years, and I will be prepared, I will NOT be bored out of my gored, for I will have many projects to keep me and my mind busy. Nope I will survive and crafting will keep me sane. I pity the others that haven't planned like me. tsk, tsk, tsk.

I wanted you all to see how beautiful my sister-in-law, JuJu looks in her birthday gift.
You probably cant even tell she is sweltering outside in 100+ weather of Oklahoma, huh?!

Today is hubby's birthday, so we did the traditional-Birthday person picks where to eat their bday dinner!! So we ended up at Bardenay's and with all three kids!!!! (celebration in itself)

Konrad had to head off to work at Albertsons afterwards, he has been very busy with Tennis, he is going to be in a Tournament in Denver this August, for fundraising, he and the 5 others are going to teach youngster the joy of Tennis in a summer camp setting and also host a garage sale.

Taylor has shaved his hair off for the summer and has recently been sporting a 'cool dude's hat', he almost had the waitress convinced he was old enough for a beer!

Chelsea had a nice surprise for Randy on his bday, she got her tongue pierced yesterday....
She also enrolled into college yesterday and she and her girlfriend found their first apartment!!
So she moves out of the house on Friday and Konrad has already called her room!

I myself wasn't the best daughter till my mid-twenties, but then I lost my Mom
to Cancer when I was 38. We were the Bestest of friends.

A lot has been happening around here that this poor blog has not been showing you......the nerve of all that technology !!
This is a goofy pic of me and husbank out celebrating our daughter's 19th birthday, I look like a man with long hair. (note to self...more eyeshadow)

We spent the Holiday in McCall again this year, boy were there a bunch of people there, I think too many for my likin'. We left town on Sunday around noon and so did everyone else....goooood lord, thank god I had my knitting, is all I can (should) say. We also stopped for 2 potty breaks and one good hour stop at the famous Cascade Flea Market. So about 4 1/2 hours later we arrived home!!!!

We love to rent a boat and a jet ski, this time we had a pontoon boat cause we were sporting 8 people. That silly boat maybe went 10 mph!!!!! BUT, the jet ski, now that is a different story. I went the fastest at 52 mph, and that was in the air, when I was jumping waves!! My sister got me hooked on this new daredevil life !! :) This pictures shows us towing the little blue number cause we ran it out of gas !!

My Dad and Step-Mom joined us this year in McCall. They drove all the way from Independence, Kansas !!! They love to drive !! I rode in their car on the ride up to McCall and it was the first time I saw wildlife, we saw 2 mule deer right off the bat around Horseshoe Bend and then about halfway there a big wild sheep decided to stop traffic. I wanted her wool and she had a bunch.

First let's start off with a moment of Peace ....... please, just for me ....... I have really needed it.

Ok, so the bedroom has been in shambles for a little over a week,

everything shoved to one corner or another. Purl as loved it,

finding new places to lounge, jumping from one place to another.

Prancer thought it was always time to play ball and almost dropped

her tennis ball into the tray of paint a couple of times! Poor neglected

animals..... not really, Prancer had spa time today, she got a lovely bath

and I trimmed her up, she gets soooo relaxed during her pampering.

My least fav part of painting is the taping part. I wish I could hire a Taper, so if it happened to leak through I could blame them. See all my blue tape?

I just did get help moving the furniture and had to stage the camera in the bathroom in order to get this action photo taken!!

AAAAHHHH ........ heaven awaits!!!!!! Do you love it????

I am very pleased with it. WHY did I wait 8 years to do this?

I added two more green accent walls by the bay windows, you see one of them in the picture below. I love my green walls

June Get-Away

I started my awesome weekend with my Friday Knitting Group. We meet every week and have been for a little over a year now. The picture below is missing about 5 other gals, during the summer its harder for all of us to get together and I heard someone sprained her wrist! (Donna, we are hoping for a speedy recovery for you!)

I just returned from a 2 day get away!! I stayed at a local hotel, had a lovely massage, watched HGTV all day (now I am gonna REALLY re-paint my bedroom!). I did a little knitting, did a little more beading, did a lot more reading, did a whole lot of sleeping :)

I bought myself flowers so the room would smell lovely!! I love the cube vase, it is so non-traditional, just like me!!

I did manage to take a little walk for 'scenic sake' and came across this cute little babbling pond. I wish I could miniaturize myself and float along its winding path.

This was taken from my hotel room window, that is my van, and that is my car's Tude !!! so watch out.....

On the way home I stopped at Home Depot and got some paint samples, so the master bedroom is going to be finally loosing its pink walls and going to Oriental Silk. yyeeeeaahhh!!! Which will match the green accent wall I painted last year soooo much better...god I am lazy. Of course I will be the only one painting the huge room ....all by myself.

Here is a big area painted with one coat, jeez I couldn't wait to test it out. See how ungodly the pink looked with the green wall....and I LOVE my green wall! So tomorrow I will do all the walls I can ,moving the furniture that weighs less than 150lbs! We have 3 very heavy pieces! I have a lot of taping ahead of me...4 windows and 3 doors.

Dang that HGTV !!!!!

Gotta love that, sucks me in every
time, too :)

Last time I bought this wacky shaped orange basket, (only pd $12) love the
handle. Of course I filled it, with about
3 or 4 projects worth of yarn.

This time I found this collapsible canvas box with handles, (pd $10, this time) it is an 8 inch square and it stands up on its own quite nicely. It just so happens to be the exact size to hold the squares i am knitting for another secret project, I need about 35 squares. Don't be guessing, now !!

Well, my Brother told me my surprise flower is a Japanese Iris ! Imagine that, in my Idaho rock garden, no wonder it was embarrassed to bloom! But with all the attention I gave it I am sure he will be proud and ready for his photo opp again next spring.

And for my Brother guessing and winning the secret contest I had going, I am going to hop on a plane in August and go visit him!!!! yyyeeeaaaa!!!

Second runner up, was my Step-Mom, for guessing Siberian Iris! She will also get a visit in August!!!!!!

You just never know what will happen over here at knitterjittermom, huh???

The cute little pink number hasn't won my heart over yet, so that project is on back burner...bad yarn :(

My beautiful Peonies are bursting all over. Their fragrance is so captivating. It also brings me right back to childhood, my Mom used to have some. I remember ants all over them, you could never bring them into the house for that reason. But I am able to enjoy these inside now?? Dont know why...

Has anyone figured out what kind of bulbs these are?

Saturday BLUES...

Remember when I said that there may be some belly aching going on here at this blog, well pull up a chair cause here it comes...
I redeemed my Mother's Day gift of a pedicure, facial and massage (thank you, Husbank!) on Tuesday. During which I learned of a NEW ailment that I have (falling apart at the seams)(no, that's not it),
Plantar Fasciitis!!!! Good lord, so the balls and heels of both feet just kill me. So now I get to add another specialist to my ever-growing list of high paid Doctors!! glory be

Wednesday was Graduation Day for my 18 year old Daughter Chelsea, during her practice in the A.M., I received a text saying her stomach was killing her. She just did make it to a primary care center, where they said "looks like gall bladder, kidneys, Go to Emergency at Hospital for Blood work and Sonogram"! So after peeing in a cup, blood work without fainting and convulsing, and 60 sonogram images ($$$$$), the little bit of MYLANTA that they had her drink the minute her butt was hanging out of the lovely hospital gowns--took care of the pain ! So low and behold, there were no gall stones, but she has intestinal issues, just like her mother and gets to visit a gastroenterologist......heavy sigh.
Got home with about 40 minutes to get ready and head off to the Big Graduation Ceremony.

During all of this, we had out of state visitors, my step-dad Gary and his wife Jeanne !!!
They came to watch the Graduation Caps fly up in the air and it was a awesome sight. After that we closed up the local BBQ joint while making wonderful new memories. Why is there never enough time to spend with loved ones?

Friday we hosted a party for my Son's Varsity Tennis Team. Fun was had by all, once again, why is it sad when everyone leaves....

Having the blues is the theme of this post for yet another reason....

Out with the Brown and In with the Pink !!

The old brown shawl is finished and was worn today.

Now it's time for some fun pink yarn !!

Check out this cute little number I am starting.

Starting at the bottom with a #13, no decreases required, instead they have you change needle sizes. This should be quite fun and fast.

Can you see how funky this yarn is?? Its more of a ribbon, very airy , knits up nice and soft.

little things folks :)

I about had a cow yesterday, my two cats (that hate each other) were relaxing very close to each other.

We have had record breaking hot weather, Summer has slapped us in the face..... and I am loving it !!!

Prancer is my bestest canine friend, she loves to be wherever I am.

This is my most treasured stone, with it comes wonderful memories of my Mom....someone had carved out a basin in it and it holds water. Now my animals drink from it.

Weekend progress

I started a simple summer shawl for myself. This pattern has been shared a million times and I have knit it about 6. I love its "spine" increase. After it is blocked with wires, the shawl is ready for show! I chose a chocolate color this time to match 3 new summer dresses.

I had my first "Flowering Tea" today. What a beauty! You get to watch it bloom in the tea pot. My flavor was Jasmine Green Tea. Delicious, I drank it iced......mmnmnmnmmm

'Zero' !!
Named so because she is so small, that she about isn't even there!!
She lives next door and visits almost daily... it is her duty.

Squeezing quietly through a gap in the gate, she will bless me with
her awesomeness and my day is instantly better!!

p.s. The latest on the nest is not good, i haven't seen the Mom sitting on her eggs today....i may have scared her off yesterday...

Sock yarn Sweater

This has been very fun to watch grow. I am pulling two different color shades of sock yarn at once. Its a top down pattern from Knitter's Winter 2008, I am using Online supersocke 100 in shades 1047 & 1057.

Look what i have in my yard!!

Its a Pheasant nest with 14 eggs. Holy Cow! Yes, I am a proud mama. Can you imagine having 28 little legs following you around all the time? I can hardly wait till they hatch.
