Sunflower Harvest

Bye Bye Sunflower Heads.



What fun this was! I got to take out all my frustrations while digging the seeds out!


And since I am allergic to them I got to don the lovely pink rubbers!


Some seeds would just fall right off the head, while others required the help of a little hand saw (always Saw Away from delicate fingers) ;-)


Koko brought out her black hoof to chew on while I sawed away, she even tried a few seeds.


It looks like I got almost 5 gallons


Pretty good for my first harvest.


They smell so Good ;-)

Sunflower Harvest

It all started with a package of Seeds......

Back on Mother's Day I received a wonderful gift from my Daughter. I don't think either of Us expected such amazing results !!


I just slightly buried the little seeds around the yard in various places, where the sprinklers would water them.


Well you are looking at a Six Foot Fence there, folks!!


I had to bungee some to the fence posts and put hooks on the house to tie up these monsters.


I have even cut some for table centerpieces :-)


But today I cut off all the Heads to Harvest the seeds for the Birds during Winter ;-). First let me remind you that I am 'Allergic' to Sunflowers.....I can smell them and that is about it. So of course I wore gloves, but something still got in my shoe and a little on my forearms causing a few little welts and itchiness! And I also sneezed a lot,
BUT check out the Glory !!!


The bounty just did fit in my Patio Table !


I have harvested 54 heads !
The largest is 18 inches across!


On some of the heads the seeds are still white, so I am storing them in the garage to dry so they will darken and grow all the nutrients for the little birdies.

Cracker Time !

Sesame Onion Almond
Flax Crackers !

What Fun these were to make!
First you soak the flax seeds in water for 6 hours.
Then add Almond flour, dehydrated onion flakes, sesame seeds, some pumpkin seeds and other spices if your choice.


Then I put 3/4 of the batter in a blender for 10 seconds (this fluffs it up)


Mixed it all together and spread on my dehydrator sheets.





Still hydrating.....in two more hours I will turn sheets upside-down onto screens and peel off sheets, slightly scoring so that when dry they 'ideally' snap apart !!!!!

For the Love of god, they are DONE!

For my Big Footed Son!
He wears a size 11.



So, of course I ran out of yarn, because I have never made this 'huge' a size before! And since I bought this yarn.....oh, So many years ago, the challenge was won by "The Twisted Ewe" in Boise!!

The purple is of course,

Lavender !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The variegated green is
Aloe Vera.
Of course many other flavors but these won me Over.

I am near the Finish Line

If all goes well I will be wearing this one by the Weekend :-)) It may look green in this photo but its khaki brown.


And this is how Happy I will be wearing it! (Hopefully Not at a Rodeo, tho)


I had to show off my cutest ever new Tape Measure! (i was so glad i had one break to justify getting this Owl)
Once it dries I will sew my shoulder seams and weave thru the I Cord (that I am still working on) to cinch up the waist.

Drying Fruit

Found a Bargain at a Garage Sale in Texas and spent more $$$ shipping it Home ! But I have been putting it to good use !


First I did apples sprinkled with cinnamon, very yummy! Second time around, getting more adventurous with Apricots and Nectarines.


It all makes for such a beautiful picture.


Also makes a nice Mess !

First Yarnbox

Not real thrilled with this month's selection of Yarns.
Recycled Silks from India, all Dry Clean only .....


I will give a few more months, because they claimed this was an experimental month.
So I am searching for ideas as to What to make out if these, any ideas ???

I Do as Pinterest Says !

First you get your 'Garage Sale Opposed' Husband to Stop at the First Sale you see, and Completely luck out !!! Because they have exactly what you want and it's only $1.....go figure.


The lid was chipped, but I am not going to be using that part anyway ;-)

Introduce a few cans of Spray paint (that I always have on hand)


And Start Swirling the two colors on the 'Find' of the day !





Always keep by your side, a few helpers .....





Taa Daa !!!
A Yarn Ball TeaPot !


The idea is that now the yarn ball won't roll away from you or get carried off by 'said previous Helpers'


I must say, it's quite darling.


Me and my TeaPot shall travel from room to room to savor a little knitting time together !
